Global warming

Jeremy Roff
28 Feb 2010
As we sit shivering in the coldest winter for thirty years, are we convinced by the global warming lobby? Hit by accusations of falsifying data, and evidence that mean temperatures have not risen at all in the last fifteen years, their views that we should all be blighted by enormous wind turbines and be lit by poisonous and unpleasant light bulbs are not very popular.
There is a far more fundamental reason why the drip feed "drive five miles less" message is a waste of time. The UK wants to cut emissions by 30% by 2050. The world's population will double by 2050. Whilst most of that growth is not in the UK, the simple fact is that no policy on global warming, if it even exists, is worth anything without addressing the huge population growth predicted. By 2050 medical advances may mean we all expect to live to 150. What then?
