Election

Bruce Guthrie
03 Feb 2010
It was interesting the other day to receive a leaflet through the letterbox from the local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate. He emphasises that he will not blindly follow the party line like others do. Presumably he thinks this will be popular in Teesdale and win him votes in the election.
It does raise some curious questions however. What would happen if the outcome of the election is a hung parliament? The two major parties would presumably seek arrangements with the Lib Dems. Would Mark Wilkes please himself or follow the Lib Dem party line?
Mark is shown photographed with Vince Cable on the leaflet. Would they do completely different things in a hung parliament?
Voters would have no idea what each Lib Dem would do if in government – sounds a bit like a recipe for a shambles.
