Council Employees: an apology

It has been brought to my attention that in my letter published last week concerning the lay-offs at Glaxo I may have caused offence to local government workers by my comments. I wish to apologise to anyone who I have offended and make clear that it is my view that council workers are vital to providing services to a high standard and often for little pay, particularly in rural areas such as Teesdale.
