Suggested traffic lights.

I wonder if any if the supporters of traffic lights in the market place, and on the market cross, have thought of the impact that this could have on the town's team of retained Firefighters? they respond from all areas of the town after being 'bleeped' to man the 2 fire appliances that cover Barnard Castle and the surrounding area, often responding to the station in their own vehicles. any time spent sitting stationary at traffic lights could mean the appliances are seriously delayed in turning out to incidents. Maybe the new 'Vision' could be watching your house burn to the ground waiting for appliances to arrive because the crews are stuck in traffic! or can the new glass information kiosk be put to use housing people who have lost their homes?
Emergency vehicles comprising Fire, Ambulance, and Police, have to negotiate the town, often turning at the cross en route to the many traffic accidents on the A66. We are all aware of the gridlock caused when even temporary lights are in place when work is being done to the market cross, have some sense and Ban HGV's from the town centre, drop the fees on the 'hole in the wall' car park, take double yellow lines away from where they should not be, and put them where they should!!
The large establishment in Startforth built on prime real estate to provide our proud young offenders with the best view in town, has a vast car park that is empty 99% of the time! can this not be put to some use?
