My name is Brian Smith. I was brought up in Barnard Castle and lived in Montalbo Road.
I now live with my wife in Adelaide, South Australia, and have done since 1974. I attended Barnard Castle Secondary Modern and was taught by the following teachers - Miss Lowes, Mr Wallace woodwork master, and of course Mary Barker.
Our friends, who live in Victoria, Australia, and visit from time to time, said that they were putting on a BBQ and someone from Barnard Castle would be coming.
When this person arrived, she turned out to be Mary Barker, my old teacher. How is that for a coincidence!
