Car Parking in Barnard Castle Ridiculous

The continuing issue of the car parking in Barnard Castle is becoming ridiculous, as more and more cars are cluttering the streets of the town centre.
Market Days are generally the worst day by far, taking up one of the main parking areas in the town, giving the residents and visitors no choice but to park in the other car parks in the town, and as the residents know, there are not many other parking choices.
One aspect that I do not understand myself is why the Council are spending so much money on the Gateway to Barnard Castle and not spending it on something that will actually benefit the town.
With the mass amount of tourists that visit Barnard Castle every year you would of thought that the council would want to reduce the amount of conjestion that the town encounters every year.
